I have examined the accompanying Ordinance intituled
An Ordinance to amend the Companies Ordinance, 1932.

By section 93(2) of the principal Ordinance (No.39 of 1932) limited companies (other than those licensed to be registered without the addition of
"Limited") which make use of any name of or for the
company in Chinese characters are required to append
to the name so used four Chinese characters which
mean "limited company" and there is a further pro- vision applicable only to "China Companies" (which are defined in section 348) requiring them to prefix
two other Chinese characters which mean "British
Merchants".

It is this further provision relating to the
two Chinese characters which this amending Ordinance
repeals.

The obligation on China Companies to thus disclose
their nationality was first imposed by section 8 of
Ordinance No.12 of 1921 at the request of the British
